Los Angeles gallery Roberts Tilton announced that it now represents artist Jeffrey Gibson, who is based in the Upper Hudson Valley of New York. The artist’s first show with the gallery will be in fall 2017.
Gibson, who is Cherokee and Choctaw, is most known for his large-scale beaded canvases and sculptures, like his works with repurposed Everlast punching bags that fuse aspects of his Native American heritage with pop culture.
He has a planned traveling mid-career survey that will open at the Denver Art Museum in March 2018, and has been included in major U.S. exhibitions, including SITElines 2016, the 2016 edition of “Greater New York” at MoMA PS1, and the 2015 Prospect New Orleans triennial.
